The SCAA was formed in 1982 by a small group of coffee professionals seeking a common forum to discuss issues and set quality standards for the Specialty Coffee trade. Today, we are the world's largest coffee trade association with more than 2,500 company members. Although most of our members are located in the Americas, we are involved in coffee production, roasting and brewing all over the world. Fair Trade is an innovative, market-based approach to sustainable development. Fair Trade helps family farmers in developing countries to gain direct access to international markets, as well as to develop the business capacity necessary to compete in the global marketplace. By learning how to market their own harvests, Fair Trade farmers are able to bootstrap their own businesses and receive a fair price for their products. This leads to higher family living standards, thriving communities and more sustainable farming practices. Fair Trade empowers farming families to take care of themselves - without developing dependency on foreign aid.

Fresh Cup Magazine

Since 1992, Fresh Cup has been serving up in-depth, thought-provoking analysis of the specialty beverage industry. Monthly columns written by successful professionals offer business advice and marketing tips, while feature articles examine critical issues like how to survive as an independent retailer, how to design an effective operations manual, how to make sense of sustainable coffee and tea, or how to open a drive-thru coffee operation. Each issue also includes an informative look at a coffee- or tea-producing country, and periodically, we publish insightful profiles on industry veterans who have impacted the specialty coffee and/or tea worlds. We are committed to providing you, the specialty coffee or tea professional, with the information you need to make informed business decisions and deliver first-rate products. We know that you consider specialty beverages not merely a business, but a passion. We devote that same kind of enthusiasm to providing you with the most vital, up-to-date information you need to improve and enrich your business.
